Design is the intermediary between information and understanding.
—Richard Grefé , Former Executive Director, American Institute of Graphic Arts
Design encourages new ways of thinking, working, and creating. The field of graphic design encompasses all communications, mediating how people perceive the world. Graphic designers today are key partners in strategy, marketing, and branding, and are actively engaged in all facets of visual interaction.
I work with clients who believe in and value the power of design. Together we will develop visual strategies that expand core values and mission. Intelligent design will reinforce the brand, reach new audiences, and establish connections with target markets.
For much of my career I have had the privilege of working as a designer and creative director in art museums, focusing on graphic identity, branding, exhibition design, and design strategy as key tools to facilitate every aspect of communication. From this experience, as well as many years working for public relations and communications firms, I have developed a broad understanding of the role of design in business as well.
Currently I am working with startups and consultants to establish a strong visual identity at launch, and to develop their communications materials as they grow.
I believe that a combination of an intuitive and an analytic design approach will lead to the best outcomes, resulting in solutions that create a competitive advantage for the client and a unique and exceptional experience for the end user.
Design is essential to everything we do, every day, from our first look at the daily paper to going to the grocery store to visiting a museum. Graphic design practice utilizes the designer’s ability not only to envision new ideas but also to integrate those ideas in ways that motivate, inspire, and entertain, and delight.
